The 37th Annual Sacramento Black History Month Weekend Spectacular begins on Friday February 21 and continues Saturday February 22 at Antioch Progressive Church. The special weekend celebration also includes the amazing Mariea Antoinette one of our Black History Maker Honorees and headline performer for the annual Sacramento Black History Month Black Tie Red Carpet Gala happening Sunday February 23 at the Dante Club Event Center. This is all part of our historic Sacramento Black History Month Weekend Spectacular to Black Excellence culminating with our Evening Of Elegance And Excellence Awards Show and Concert.
The Black History Month Expo will begin on Friday February 21 at 12 noon for the Black Expo Day One at the incredible Antioch Progressive Church on Meadowview and Amherst. There will be workshops on important issues and resources to help the families and the youth have opportunities to build and strive while thriving to learn how to be successful. This an incredible way to begin the weekend.
Day One continues with Kick-Off Concert Battle Of The Bands Round 2 at the Country Club Lanes Sky Room at 7:00 p.m. when San Francisco singing stars The Seastrunk Brothers come to Sacramento to face off against Foe Deep of Sacramento (tickets are available by calling 279-399-0842).
Day Two is our sensational Black History Month Expo at Antioch Progressive Church from 11am-6pm with exhibit booths for the America Back To Work Job Faire, workshops on homeownership, A.I; the digital economy; the Black Men’s Health Forum; part two of the Black Women’s Networking Conference; our Tribute to the Black Church in the Civil Rights Movement; the Youth Essay Writing on Black History; the Saving Our Children Summit; Careers in Law Enforcement; the Business-2-Business Summit; Gospel SoulFest; our popular Soul Food Court and more entertainment, information and opportunities to support Black businesses, the Black community and those that support our history, dreams and future.
Day 3 begins with our Let’s Go To Church as we invite everyone to service at Antioch Progressive. Then at 4:00 p.m. we host the Black Tie-Red carpet Gala at the Dante Club on Fair Oaks Blvd. for the Black History Makers Awards. We are honoring the great leaders that keep our legacies alive with their works and deeds in civil rights. This year the entire weekend is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act becoming law. You can learn about the Voting Rights Act at the Expo.
