Caribbean Currents Festival

June 28 @ 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
$10

On behalf of the Caribbean Basin Institute for Education and Culture (CBIEC), I am pleased to invite you to partner with us in celebrating culture, community, and connection through our upcoming Caribbean Currents Festival.

Established in 2012, CBIEC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cultural understanding and appreciation of the Caribbean Islands and their indigenous peoples. Through educational seminars, public performances, and people-to-people exchanges, we strive to build bridges across cultures and create opportunities for learning, engagement, and shared experiences.

This vibrant event will bring together an estimated 100-300 attendees from across the Sacramento region, including families, youth, students, and community members of diverse backgrounds. The festival will feature:

Live performances by three Caribbean musical artists
Cultural dance performances, including Brazilian, Haitian, Trinidadian, and Cuban traditions
Interactive dance lessons encouraging community participation
Caribbean food vendors and artisan marketplace
Community resource tables hosted by local nonprofits and service organizations
A dedicated children’s play area with engaging, family-friendly activities

By combining music, dance, food, arts, and education in a welcoming public space, the Caribbean Currents Festival fosters cross-cultural understanding, supports local small businesses and artists, and strengthens community connections.
