Free Food, Free Parking and Play: Sacramento Event Brings Community Together Through Movement, and Mindfulness

SACRAMENTO – Students, athletes, coaches, mental health professionals, and community members will come together for Connecting in Community: Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind, a community event focused on the power of movement, mindfulness, sport, and play to support mental well-being.
Held in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the event will feature an afternoon of soccer, yoga, meditation, mindfulness activities, and a coaches panel designed to encourage Californians of all ages to care for their mental health, move their bodies, and build stronger connections with their communities.
The event is hosted by statewide initiatives California Love, California Strong and Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind, which promote social connection, self-care, belonging, and everyday practices that can help reduce stress and support emotional well-being.

California Love, California Strong aims to strengthen a deeper sense of belonging across the Golden State through self-care, service, and social connection. The initiative brings Californians together to build community and resilience amid growing concerns about loneliness and isolation.
Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind
Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind provides Californians of all ages with interactive ways to explore the connection between movement, mindfulness, and overall health. Research shows that even simple daily movement and mindfulness practices can help lower stress and improve mood. The initiative also promotes a positive and inclusive sports and fitness culture that supports health, community, and belonging. Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind was launched in 2023 by the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-Being, the California Department of Health Care Services, and the California Department of Public Health.
