LSS College Initiative Program – YHDP Housing Support for Student Parents
The Lutheran Social Services (LSS) College Initiative Program, in collaboration with the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), is seeking to connect with college students who are pregnant or parenting and experiencing homelessness. Through the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP), eligible young adults ages 18–24 can receive individualized housing and supportive services designed to help them achieve greater housing stability while continuing their education and caring for their families.
Who We Serve
The program supports eligible pregnant and parenting students attending:
• Sacramento State (CSU Sacramento)
• American River College
• Cosumnes River College
• Folsom Lake College
• Sacramento City College
Support for Students & Their Children
The College Initiative Program recognizes that housing stability involves supporting the entire family. Through LSS, SCOE, and community partnerships, participants and their children can be connected to services and resources based on their individual needs.
Support may include:
• Housing navigation and housing placement assistance
• Individualized case management and housing stability planning
• Housing-related financial assistance, based on eligibility
• Parenting and family support resources
• Child development and early childhood resources
• Childcare and educational resource connections
• Employment and educational support for the parent
• Benefits and community resource referrals
• Ongoing support to help the family work toward long-term stability
